A $120,000 Private Sale - And We Retained Half.

There's a saying we come back to often at Brooklana: Success Leaves Clues.

Recently, the market offered another piece of evidence.

A cow bred here at Brooklana - a granddaughter of the legendary Millah Murrah Prue M4, with a calf at foot, has been privately sold at an agreed total value of $120,000, representing, we believe to be the fourth highest price ever paid for an Angus cow in Australasia.

In 2017, we purchased Millah Murrah Prue M4 herself for $190,000 - a figure that smashed the previous Australasian record by more than $140,000.

The buyer of the half share of S5 and X50, is a prominent stud breeder based in Western Australia, who after reviewing photos and videos of the cow and her calf, moved quickly to secure a half share interest.

We retained the other half.

Why Retain a Half Share?

Because this cow is exceptional. And because what she produces going forward is worth being part of.

Her calf - still at foot when this sale was negotiated - is, in Rodger's own words, next level. The genetics running through this pair don't just represent value today. They represent value across generations.

A half share sale at this level is a deliberate decision - it allows the cow and her future progeny to remain connected to the Brooklana program while giving a serious buyer access to something genuinely rare.

What This Means

This cow was originally earmarked for our 12th Annual Sale on 3rd August 2026. Interest came before she ever made it to the catalogue.

That tells you something.

When genetics are right - when the breeding is proven and the animal delivers on her pedigree - the market moves.

The Bigger Picture

What makes this result particularly significant is what it confirms about the direction of the Brooklana program.

This cow is a Prue M4 granddaughter. She didn't achieve $120,000 by accident - she achieved it because of a decade of deliberate, patient genetic investment in the females that make up this herd. Cow families like Prue, Dream and Flower. Sires like Millah Murrah Rocket Man R38, Matauri Reality, Te Mania Emperor and BT Right Time 24J.

The grand dam of the calf is Millah Murrah N30, the purchaser owning a 50% share in future embryos, for a $140,000 consideration.

Come and see them.
