$300,000. A New Australasian Record. And a Locked-In Focus From a West Australian Stud.

The 12th Annual Brooklana Angus Sale is done - and the results have set a new benchmark for the Angus breed in Australasia.

The headline result needs no dressing up.

Brooklana Prue V7 and her three week old bull calf Brooklana Xcell X54 - Lot 1 - sold for $300,000 to Edengate Angus at Eastbrook, via Manjimup in Western Australia, establishing a new Australasian record for the highest price ever paid for an Angus female.

For those who know the Brooklana story, the significance of that number goes beyond the dollars.

Millah Murrah Prue M4 - purchased by Rodger Pryce in 2017 for $190,000, a figure that held the Australasian record for an Angus female for nine years - once held that same record. On Monday 3rd August 2026, her daughter claimed it.

Mother to daughter. Record to record. Nine years apart. Both owned by the same Angus stud. Both photographed together on the same property, in the same paddock, with the next generation lying between them in the form of a three week old bull calf.

It is hard to imagine this has ever happened before in the history of the Angus breed.

The Lots

Brooklana Prue V7 is by Millah Murrah Rocket Man R38 from Millah Murrah Prue M4 - the first female of the Prue M4 line ever offered to market at public auction. Her data set is exceptional across the board - top 1% for growth at 200, 400 and 600 days. Top 1% for carcase weight and retail beef yield. A net feed intake index in the top 4%. Numbers that reflect exactly the kind of animal this program has been built to produce.

Her calf at foot, Brooklana Xcell X54 - by Millah Murrah Trigger T308 - was born at 38 kilograms. By sale day - three weeks later - he had already more than doubled that. Some things you just know early.

Lot 2, Brooklana Vanquish V6 - full brother to V7, and the first ever breeding aged son of Millah Murrah Prue M4 and Millah Murrah Rocket Man R38 offered for sale - sold for $100,000, also heading west to Edengate Angus. Vanquish left Brooklana with 1,000 straws of semen fit for both export and domestic use, with a portion retained for Brooklana's in-herd needs. His lifetime daily gain was the highest in the entire draft. His intramuscular fat sat at 6.8% - and his retail beef yield EBVs placed him in the top 1% of the breed.

The Buyer

Edengate Angus at Eastbrook, via Manjimup in Western Australia, secured both Lot 1 and Lot 2 with a locked-in focus that was evident from the opening bid - committing to V7 and at the same time securing V6, full brother to V7.

Remarkably, Edengate have never physically seen any of the animals. Their conviction in the Brooklana program and the Prue M4 genetics has been built entirely on data, pedigree, video and a deep understanding of what these bloodlines represent and where they are heading.

In June, prior to sale day, Edengate had already secured Brooklana Prue S5 and her heifer calf Prue X50 privately for $120,000. They also have significant history with the broader Millah Murrah genetics that underpin the Brooklana program - an investment that speaks to a stud that knows exactly what it is building toward.

Three Brooklana lots. One West Australian buyer. Never having set foot on the property. A very clear statement of intent.

The Record Behind the Record

To understand what Monday's result means, you need to understand the thinking that made it possible - and it starts not with Rocket Man, but with a bull.

Rodger Pryce bred Brooklana Emperor L29 - and went looking for a cow worthy of him. That search led to Millah Murrah Prue M4, purchased in 2017 for $190,000, smashing the previous Australasian record for an Angus female by more than $140,000.

Years later, with Prue established at Brooklana and her influence growing through the herd, the thinking shifted. A bull was needed for Prue. That search led to Millah Murrah Rocket Man R38, purchased in 2021 for $280,000.

Two record investments. One very deliberate plan. And the result of that plan sold on Monday for $300,000.

In the years since her arrival, Prue M4 has also spent time at Bovine Breeders via Kentucky in the New England and at R Angus via Tamworth, producing embryos through the drug free IMF process - continuing to contribute to the program in every way possible.

And in all that time - through daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters - not a single female of her line had ever left Brooklana for sale.

Until now.

The Moment

What happened on Monday 3rd August at Brooklana may never have happened before in the history of the Angus breed.

Millah Murrah Prue M4 held the Australasian record for the highest price ever paid for an Angus female for nine years. On sale day, that record was broken by her own daughter - Brooklana Prue V7. Both animals owned by the same stud. Both present on the same property. Both photographed together in the same paddock, with Brooklana Xcell X54 - the next generation - lying between them at just three weeks of age.

A record held for nine years. Surpassed by the next generation. Witnessed by the record holder herself.

That is not just a sale result. That is a moment in the history of this breed.

The Calf

Brooklana Xcell X54's pedigree brings together two of the great Millah Murrah foundation lines - Prue and Flower N30. His sire, Millah Murrah Trigger T308, has already proven what he can produce - his first sons averaged $87,000 at their first sale outing.

Born at 38 kilograms. Already 78.5kg at three weeks of age on sale day.

Some programs take generations to prove themselves. This one already has.

What Comes Next

Following the sale, Rodger Pryce has already been in discussions with the under bidders - who congratulated Brooklana Angus on the result and the significance of what was achieved on the day. Those discussions have centred on something that will be of considerable interest to serious Angus breeders - the resolve to present an off market opportunity to secure Prue female genetics from within the current calf crop at Brooklana.

The Day

The remainder of the sale saw bulls go to repeat clients from Valla to Taroom in Queensland, with the draft topping at $12,000 for Brooklana Chisum V16, heading to the Hayes family at Taroom.

The sale was conducted by Nutrien Ag Solutions with online bidding managed through AuctionsPlus. Buyers attended from across the country - in person and online.

On the property, the Ulong school committee served refreshments and lunch, Brooklana beef was on the grill and the team made every person feel genuinely welcome from the moment they arrived at 244 Whitneys Road.

It was a day that reflected everything Brooklana stands for.

Looking Ahead

The role of cows within a breeding herd has always been the conviction at the heart of this program - more significant, more enduring and more influential than any bull could ever be. It is a belief the broader industry is slowly coming around to. Brooklana has been living it for over a decade.

The 12th Annual Sale is done. The program is not.

The females remaining at Brooklana, the joinings already planned and the next generation already on the ground will tell the next chapter of this story.
